Cosmetics
Also said as Skins, Vanity items, Hats
Paid items that change how you look and nothing about how you play.
This is the cleanest thing to sell inside a game: nobody who skips it loses out, and match results stay fair. It works best in games where other people can see you, and can still be sold with tricks of its own, such as loot boxes and limited-time pressure.
Say it
“Everything we sell is cosmetic, and every cosmetic has a price in money that you see before you buy, with no boxes and no timer.”
Where you’ve seen it
Fortnite's skins do nothing for your chances in a match and they made it one of the highest-earning games ever. Team Fortress 2's hats made a game about shooting into a hat economy.
Not to be confused with pay-to-win
Cosmetics change looks. Pay-to-win changes results. The test: would a skilled player without it be at a disadvantage?
