Pose to pose
Also said as Keyframing, Key poses, Inbetweening, Tweening
Drawing the most important poses first, then filling in the frames between them. Its opposite is straight ahead, drawing each frame after the last from start to finish.
You can check that the move reads and lands on time before doing the expensive work, and game timing depends on landing on the right frame. Straight ahead is livelier and harder to control.
Say it
“Block the attack pose to pose first: wind-up, contact, recovery. Send me just those three held poses at the right timing before anyone adds inbetweens.”
Not to be confused with straight ahead
Straight ahead starts at frame one and finds the move as it goes, which suits fire and water. Pose to pose plans the destination first, which suits anything that must hit a mark.
